🔴 Executions and the human rights crackdown Between 7 and 11 December, at least 55 people were executed in 39 prisons across Iran – most on drug-related and murder charges. At the same time, new death sentences and heavy punishments target political prisoners, teachers, labour activists and religious minorities, including Bahá’ís and Christian converts. We also cover the security forces’ attack on the 7th-day memorial for lawyer Khosro Alikordi in Mashhad, where mourners were beaten and arrested as they chanted “Bi sharaf! Bi sharaf!” – “Shameless! Shameless!”
🟠 From Asaluyeh to Parliament: labour on the move At least 26 labour and livelihood protests took place this week. More than 5,000 contract workers in South Pars rallied in Asaluyeh; pensioners from several sectors gathered in Kermanshah; electricity, oil and gas staff protested in front of parliament; and social welfare employees demanded wages that match inflation. Together, these actions show how demands for wage justice, job security, the abolition of labour contractors and accountability in pension funds are starting to converge.

Is the escalation of executions and crackdowns a show of strength – or an admission of weakness from a regime that has nothing left to offer but force?
